This position serves as a Supply Technician at the VA Healthcare System, James A. Lovell FHCC, North Chicago, IL.
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet at least one of the following requirements: Specialized Experience: Possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supply Technician position.
Specialized experience includes: providing supplies and material to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, instruments and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answering customer questions regarding supplies and materials.
OR Education Substitution: Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
This education must be obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
(Transcripts must be submitted at time of application) OR Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position.
For the GS-05 grade level, only education in excess of 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable.

Major Duties:
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Verifies that adequate supplies of Prosthetic and Orthotic items are on hand to provide for patient services.
Recommends stock levels, maintain stock issues and accountability for appliances. Receives all incoming stock and processes receiving documents for all items received.
Manages the receipt, distribution, and stock maintenance of items received from the warehouse and from outside vendors.
Investigates and reconciles routine and recurring discrepancies relating to actions such as receipt control, stock control, reorder points and inventory adjustments.
Maximizes storage space available, and ensures that all work areas are clear of debris for easy flow of stock.
Maintains all inventory barcode label levels in order to maintain consistent label to stock ratio.
