Full Job Description

This position is located in the Security Services Division (SSD), Security Operations Branch, Remote Delivery Facility (RDF).

The RDF is responsible for the screening of all vehicles and material that require access into the Pentagon or its designated facilities, to include mail, cargo, vehicles, and visitors.

Additional Conditions of Employment The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI and SAP components.

A Special Background Investigation (SBI) is required with favorable adjudication by a determining authority.

This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the civilian drug-testing program.

As a mandatory requirement for employment in this TDP, the incumbent is to (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if required, submit to urinalysis testing.

The selectee must sign statements acknowledging the position is identified as a TDP. The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE.

Mission essential employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations (e.g., building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor.

This position is indexed as requiring the Security Fundamentals DoD Certification in accordance with DoD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.

The employee must obtain the required certification within two years of entering on duty in this position.

This certification requirement only applies to employees hired or reassigned into this position on or after March 14, 2016.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: Applying physical security laws, polices, regulations, strategic plans and precedents as related to a law enforcement, security, X-ray screening or force protection organization; 2) Implementing or enforcing security policy to provide procedural and operational direction and guidance in the accomplishment of physical security or screening programs or operations; and 3) Implementing or enforcing procedures that enable the improvement of the operational effectiveness and efficiency of a Remote Delivery Facility or security screening operation.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Manages daily, the x-ray screening process, the ITS, and oversees the input of requests into the NCIC checks.

Ensures Security Specialists are adequately trained to screen materials, process requests through the ITS, and record and track all contraband.

Ensures the physical protection of the RDF and the safety and security of all personnel employed there.

Ensures the daily mission of screening all materials for restricted items/contraband is carried out.

The employee provides guidance to Security Specialists who provide direct security administration support and oversight as prescribed in Executive Orders and DoD Directives, Instructions, and regulations.

Responsible for planning , coordinating, implementing and overseeing the operational functions of the RDF in SSD.
