Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading efforts to ensure safety and health standards in Marine Forces Reserve centers, including creating safety guidelines, conducting inspections, reviewing reports, and advising on risk reduction.

It's a supervisory role focused on protecting personnel across multiple reserve sites in New Orleans.

A good fit would be someone with experience in safety management, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to preventing workplace hazards in a military or government setting.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent, including developing and providing technical advice on safety programs
  • Knowledge of implementing technical safety standards, codes, and requirements for various operations
  • Ability to formulate objectives, guides, and work practices to improve safety and health conditions
  • Experience directing inspections, surveys, and assistance visits to multiple facilities (e.g., 185 reserve centers)
  • Skills in conducting in-depth reviews of safety instructions, guidelines, and directives from higher authorities
  • Proficiency in evaluating mishap reports for accuracy, identifying causal factors, and recommending corrective actions
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain necessary security clearance for Department of the Navy positions

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPV SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Marine Forces Reserve of MARFORRES NOLA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing and providing technical advice on safety programs to commands and implementing technical safety standards, codes, and safety requirements for a variety of operations.

  • You will formulate and establish objectives, guides and work practices to protect and improve safe and health conditions.
  • You will direct scheduled and unscheduled inspections, surveys and assistance visits of 185 reserve centers as may be required.
  • You will conduct in depth reviews of safety instructions and supplemental implementing guidelines or directives issued by higher headquarters or other agencies.
  • You will evaluate mishap reports for accuracy and completeness and make recommendations to subordinate units on identifying casual factors and recommend corrective action.
