This job is for a deputy director role at the EPA, where you'll lead a team to enforce environmental laws, ensure companies follow regulations, and solve technical issues related to protecting the environment.
It's a high-level supervisory position focused on planning operations, managing staff, and handling budgets in Chicago.

This position is in Region 5, Enforcement and Compliance Assurance Division. About: Region 5.
This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as providing enforcement and compliance assurance under one or more statutes utilizing compliance assurance tools available to the organization; developing judicial enforcement actions and addressing and resolving technical problems associated with Federal environmental laws.

You will: Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the organizational unit goals and objectives to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
Recommend program activities to be tracked, develop criteria for staff performance, and determine appropriate actions of impact for establishing, developing, and maintaining effective working relationships of personnel.
Overview and track daily operations, manage large group of employees into offices or branches, and develop and implement the administrative budget to achieve objectives of environmental protection.
Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities to advise and provide counsel regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management for employee development.
You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
