Summary

Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service- experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication- briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-14) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is defined as: Providing advice and consultation to senior level management on a wide range of financial systems and applications, network services, security regulations, and/or policies and procedures; and experience in the planning and execution of multiple organizational programs.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or higher grade in Federal Service.

** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

Major Duties:

  • Advises the IT Director/Deputy Director and headquarters staff on all technical support IT programs.
  • Develops technical IT guidelines and a general framework for the formulation of policies, plans and programs to ensure effective conduct of assigned missions, functions, and operations.
  • Manages all IT internal/external communications with other agencies, DFAS leadership and senior DFAS management regarding high level IT requirements, taskings, and new work acquisitions to include analysis and workload management.
  • As the IT Client Executive (CE), addresses and assists in resolving any/all issues raised by clients regarding all IT products and services provided by DFAS.
  • Supervises a staff that plans, manages, directs, and performs technical IT planning; technical proposal development; technical specifications; and has technical and administrative oversight of activities comprising the complete software life cycle.
