Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing the repair and modernization of naval ships in Bahrain, managing teams and contractors to ensure mechanical, electrical, and structural systems work properly and on time.

It requires coordinating complex projects from planning to testing while handling budgets and safety checks.

A good fit would be someone with experience in shipbuilding or naval maintenance who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable leading in a high-stakes environment.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Supervisory Industrial Specialist (Shipbuilding) in the Waterfront Operations division of FW DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET BAHRAIN.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Understanding how the mechanical and electrical system on the ship must operate independently and be integrated into the final overall test/inspection of the ship; 2) Managing complex systems aboard naval vessels and possessing the ability to coordinate work of all activities (i.e.

private contractors, ship's force, AITs, etc.) to ensure systems are repaired in a timely manner; 3) Reviewing funds and accounting procedures promulgated by Navy Comptroller (NAVCOMPT) manuals to avoid misappropriation of funds; and 4) Evaluating technical and complex problem areas that occur in the ship repair; and 5) Using automated information systems concepts, system capabilities and economic usage to effectively complete assignments.

  • You will administer work orders for the repair and modernization of naval vessels from advance planning through production completion and associated testing.
  • You will review manage the detailed work specifications for mechanical, electrical and structural work.
  • You will provide project information updates and notify responsible personnel of scheduled evolutions.
  • You will conduct safety inspections, maintain event logs, and provide written reports as directed.
  • You will maintain records such as contractor condition reports, new work identified but not an authorized, Government Furnished Material (GFM) delivery status, and contractor performance evaluations.
