Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading and managing the human resources team for the EPA's Region 4 office in Atlanta, including planning HR programs, advising top management on personnel issues, and supervising staff to support the agency's environmental mission.

A good fit would be an experienced HR professional with strong leadership skills who enjoys strategic planning and building relationships with stakeholders.

It's an office-based role requiring regular in-person work.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-14 level or equivalent, including developing operational goals, timelines, and plans for mission-essential tasks
  • Experience identifying and resolving performance issues and devising improvement strategies
  • Proven ability to represent leadership on national forums and to external stakeholders
  • Strong competencies in human capital management, leadership, strategic thinking, and decision making
  • Supervisory experience leading HR staff and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners
  • Proficiency in HR information systems, policy planning, and performance measurement

This position is in Region 4, Mission Support Division, Human Resources Management Branch.

About Region 4 This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as developing operational goals, timelines, and plans for completing mission essential tasks; identifying and resolving performance issues and devising strategies for improvement; and representing the Regional Administrator and region's interests on national forums and to external stakeholders.

You will: Plan, direct and implement the Region's Human Capital programs. Serve as advisor to Regional management on a broad spectrum of human capital matters.
