Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team that handles grants and agreements to fund environmental protection projects for states, tribes, and communities in Alaska.

You'll supervise staff, ensure everything follows laws and rules, and advise top leaders on managing these funds effectively.

Full Job Description

This position is in Region10, Mission Support Division, Grants and Interagency Agreements Branch. About: Region 10.

This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to one of the duty stations stated in this announcement on a regular basis (location TBD after candidate selected).

NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as overseeing and/or supervising staff who manage assistance agreements, including grants and cooperative agreements, to support state, tribal, local, and community initiatives for protecting human health and the environment; overseeing program operations to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and organizational policies.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. *If you have part-time work experience, read this: Part-Time Experience. Major Duties:

You will: Exercise supervisory and personnel management responsibilities by planning work, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance of subordinate supervisors and staff in order to achieve program objectives.

Serve as an Award Official for the Interagency Agreements Shared Service Center (IASSC) West, with final authority to obligate federal funds under interagency agreements to procure goods and services for federal agencies, and as an Award Official for grants and cooperative agreements to administer awards to external organizations.

Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate activities, resources, schedules, and risks for the Grants and Interagency Agreements Branch, in coordination with staff and stakeholders, to deliver mission outcomes on time and within budget, ensure statutory and policy compliance, and improve program performance.

Provide direct counsel on grants and interagency agreements to the Regional Administrator, Deputy Regional Administrator, Senior Resource Official, regional leaders, and national counterparts to plan, manage, and resolve program issues.

You will spend 25-50% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
