The primary purpose of this position is/ To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organiizing, and exercisingcontrol over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Individual Equipment (IEE) and Individual Protective Equipment (IPE)Elements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions for General Supply Series, 2001.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of well-established and commonly applied supply principles concepts and methodologies pertaining to supply management.

Through knowledge of supply principles concepts and methods to enable resolution of difficult or unusual problems encountered by subordinates.

Knowledge of governing supply regulations policies procedures and instructions to enable supply and equipment support of facility maintenance activities and self-help issues.

Utilizes practical knowledge of the technical methods principles of material acquisition self-help support and facility maintenance requirements to support numerous projects.

Knowledge and skill in using automated supply databases for inventory management determination.

Knowledge of budget policies and procedures to determine budget requirements for future years as well as to maintain and track adequate funding for current year.

OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of supply principles, concepts, and methodologies involving general supply, supply management, storage & distribution, inventory, cataloging, purchasing and packaging specialties as they relate to the management of the war readiness and pilot training material programs.

Knowledge of governing supply staff, administrative and financial regulations, policies, procedures and practices to analyze, evaluate and manage the war readiness, Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) material program to include the Explosive Safety Standards and Air Force Installation Security Program.

Ability to apply analytical methods and techniques to resolve issues and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Experience providing advice and guidance on supply regulations to upper levels of management regarding supply functions.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Individual Equipment (IEE) & Individual Protective Equipment (IPE) Elements, ensuring that Logistics Readiness Squadron complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

Represents both Elements with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with installation and higher headquarters functionals.

Serves as the Elements control point for the effective management of the Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) deployment gear purchases.

Serves as the key advisor on all pilot clothing/deployment gear/small arms weapon related issues and recommends policy and procedural changes to higher headquarters through command-channels for AEF and other contingency tasking's.

Manages, directs, analyzes and implements mobility/small arms/light weapons security, inventory surveillance and inspection programs.
