Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage environmental protection programs at a naval shipyard maintenance center, including advising on policies, planning budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist in the Environment, Safety, and Health Department C106 of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing environmental protection advisory or oversight services by resolving complex issues (e.g., improving operating policies; assessing program effectiveness) to plan project or program activities for a shipyard environmental protection program.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the program manager and principal advisor to the Department Director in the review, coordination, evaluation, and development of policies, plans, programs, and procedures governing SWRMC’s environmental programs.
  • You will develop short and long-range forecast necessary for planning, programming, and budgeting for SWRMC’s environmental requirements.
  • You will oversee SWRMC’s review of environmental compliance and protection, documents, including investigations and other nonconformance’s within contractual requirements.
  • You will provide technical and administrative guidance to the professional staff, as they relate to environmental requirements and contractual guidance.
  • You will prepare, mentor and conduct staff civilian performance appraisals and identifies required corrective actions.
  • You will serve as senior environmental professional and the Manager for the Environmental Community of Interest.
  • You will make recommendations for decisions concerning SWRMC’s environmental programs.
  • You will represent the Division on all environmental matters. Deals with senior officials of the command, regional commands, contractors, and other governmental agencies on environmental matters.
