Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to plan and oversee testing programs for electrical and mechanical systems on Navy submarines and surface ships, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.

It requires supervising projects, evaluating decisions, and assigning tasks while staying updated on technical details.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent in managing test programs for electrical or mechanical systems on surface ships or submarines
  • Knowledge of technical manuals, directives, and reports for maintenance, overhaul, modification, and testing of nuclear and non-nuclear submarines and surface ships
  • Familiarity with shipboard systems, work control, requirements, system testing, shipboard safety, and Subsafe re-entry control
  • Ability to evaluate technical decisions for effectiveness and keep management informed on project statuses, personnel, or procedural issues
  • Skills in analyzing project scope and assigning tasks to functional shops or codes
  • Supervisory experience in a federal or equivalent public/private sector role

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Supervisory Engineering Technician in the Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing the proper sequencing and execution of test programs involving electrical or mechanical systems of surface ships or submarines.

  • You will keep the Head, Production Test Engineering and Planning Division informed on the statuses of all project assignments on any personnel, organization, or procedural problems which require of management.
