SEE "DUTIES" AREA FOR SUMMARY In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1740, Education Services Series BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the position to be filled in one or a combination of the areas described below.
At least one course must have been from (1) or (2) below. 1.
Tests and measurement: Study of the selection, evaluation, administration, scoring, interpretation, and uses of group and individual aptitude, proficiency, interest, and other tests. 2.
Adult education: Study of the adult as a learner, teaching-learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities. 3.
Educational program administration: Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs. 4.
Curriculum development or design: Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs. 5.
Teaching methods: Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner. 6.
Guidance and counseling: Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation.
7. Career planning: Study of career development, learning activities, systems, approaches, program coordination, use of educational and community resources, and vocational counseling systems. 8.
Occupational information: Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process.
Identification and utilization of various types of occupational information and resources. NOTE: You MUST submit copies of your transcripts.
AND In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes: 1) Possess knowledge at the mastery level of academic/educational concepts and processes, a demonstrated skill in teaching and scholarly research, a broad knowledge of educational institutional effectiveness, accreditation, educational research/inquiry, academic program outcomes processes and procedures, knowledge of both academic and military cultures and to effectively apply advanced educational theories, principles and concepts; 2) Possess knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures; 3) Possess skill in managing and coordinating complex activities, gathering facts, and using effective analytical and evaluative methods to accurately assess information and make sound analytical and problem-solving decisions; 4) Possess the ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors; 5) Possess the ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources; and 6) Possess the ability at the executive level to serve effectively and bring about strategic change as a leader, influencer, advisor and consultant within area of expertise across multiple levels; and to demonstrate skill in communication, verbal and written, using a range of message formats to audiences from tactical to strategic, in moving people toward meeting the organizational vision, mission, and goals, facilitating cooperation and teamwork.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).
Serves as the key staff professional position, recognized as the top education and technical training expert consultant and senior education advisor on all academic matters relating to the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), an organization within the Air Force Global College(AFGC) with Air Force-wide, sister-service, and DoD-level scope of operations.
This position is responsible for all academic programs, policies and processes to ensure CCAF and AFGC mission success.
DUTIES: Serves as member of CCAF senior leadership team to work collaboratively in developing strategic-to-operational-to-tactical plans, programs and policies supporting services aligned to AFGC, AU, AETC, Air Force, and DoD objectives for enlisted force development resulting in the award of academic and workplace credentials as well as an enhanced mission-ready and capable force.
Supervises management of the physical education, technical, general education, Leadership-Management-Military Studies and elective components of all CCAF degree, certificate and certifications programs.
Represents the Community College Of the Air Force (CCAF) with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
