Summary

This job involves leading the correctional services team at a federal prison in Fort Worth, Texas, overseeing security, inmate behavior, safety, and daily operations to keep the facility running smoothly and secure.

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.

Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.

To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience advising executive staff on all matters concerning institution custodial and security.

Experience formulating and implementing correctional policy. Experience coordinating requirements with other departments, ensuring institutional security controls, and emergency response.

Experience developing the departmental budget, giving consideration to custodial requirements, inmate care, and administrative needs. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.

To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

**Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.** Major Duties:

Serves as the department head in the Correctional Services department at one of the Bureau of Prisons most complex correctional facilities.

Responsible for institutional security, inmate conduct and discipline, inmate work, control of hazardous tools and materials, safety, sanitation, control and use of institution vehicles, and key control.

Also inspects facilities, observes personnel and inmates from the standpoint of security, morale and employee-inmate relations, and overall program coordination.

Serves as an advisor to the Warden and his staff in the formulation and implementation of institution policies, procedures and programs.

Must integrate these policies and procedures into the overall operations of the facility, as well as the correctional department, and keep management advised of activities effecting institution programs.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, the incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.

The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
