Specialized experience is defined as: Experience applying a civil engineering discipline (structural, hydrologic, hydraulic, geotechnical, or engineering geology) in the investigation, design, construction, operation, or maintenance of a water-resources related infrastructure facility (such as dams, levees, surface water intakes, canals, flumes, or hydropower projects), and experience performing, documenting, or reviewing dam safety risk analysis, risk assessment, or risk-informed decision making using tools and procedures developed and implemented by one of the following entities: FERC, US Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, or Tennessee Valley Authority.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.

Incumbent must possess and maintain a current license/registration as a professional engineer in any State(s), District of Columbia, Guam, or territory of the United States.

This position requires you to Obtain and Maintain a Top Secret Clearance.

This position is a Mobile Work position.

Mobile work is characterized by routine and regular travel to conduct work in customer or other worksites as opposed to a single authorized alternative worksite.

Examples of mobile work include site audits, site inspections, investigations, property management, and work performed while commuting, traveling between worksites, or on Temporary Duty (TDY).

This Supervisory Civil Engineer is available in the Division of Dam Safety Inspections, Risk Informed Decision Making Branch in the Office of Energy Projects As a Supervisory Civil Engineer, some of your typical work assignments may include: Serving as a Branch Chief leading a group of civil engineers in a manner that exemplifies and promotes the five leadership behaviors: communication, setting direction, implementation and achievement, fostering and promoting teamwork, and building trust and commitment.

Implementing the Risk Informed Decision Making (RIDM) program, functioning as an authoritative source of expertise on risk informed decision making to serve as technical lead in that area.

Participating in detailed technical inspections, investigations, analyses, and evaluations of complex dam safety issues, and in risk analyses and reviews of risk assessments conducted on jurisdictional dams.

Effectively communicating with staff and external parties to promote the goals and mission of the safety and inspection program. Reviewing and making recommendations on dam safety engineering reports.
