This job involves leading a team of asylum officers at U.S.

As a Supervisory Asylum Officer, you will provide direction to staff engaged in the administration of Immigration and Nationality laws pertinent to the Asylum Program, serve as a USCIS representative on asylum matters, and lead in the strategic mission and resource management of the Asylum Division.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 04/06/2026.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.

The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 04/06/2026.

GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.

You must have experience performing the following duties: Analyzing the impact and providing feedback on existing or proposed legislation that affect immigration programs and workloads; Assessing the productivity, effectiveness or efficiency of a program area with consideration for current and future needs; Providing technical direction and quality review to staff who review or process immigration benefits applications or workloads; Participating in inter-agency or intra-agency task forces and other special groups to enhance the integrity of the legal immigration system.

  • Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, with Refugee, Asylum and International Operations, Asylum Division, and is assigned based on the need of the agency.
  • Provide technical and administrative direction to Asylum Division staff whose work involves the adjudication of asylum applications and other protection related immigration benefits and screenings.
  • Conduct quality reviews to ensure asylum applications are adjudicated appropriately and that an appropriate level of quality in interviewing, case write-ups, and out-processing is achieved and maintained.
  • Collaborate with Division personnel to optimize work efficiency and effectiveness, which includes sharing resources, forming work groups and project teams to meet Divisional goals while eliminating barriers.
  • Conduct studies with detailed analysis, and present findings and recommendations on program operations of complex functions and work processes that relate to Asylum applications and other Asylum workloads.
  • Provide advice, counsel and/or instruction to staff members on both work and administrative matters, which involves resolving complaints from employees and effecting disciplinary measures.
