Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in Professional Knowledge: A deep understanding of advanced mathematics, statistics, and data processing techniques, particularly as they apply to the field of astrometry (e.g., performing plate reductions, forming stellar reference frames, and creating star catalogs).

Experience in Astronomical Techniques: Professional knowledge of astrometric and astronomical techniques to utilize data from both traditional sources (like Earth-based astrographs) and non-traditional sources (like astrometric satellites and interferometers).

Experience in Specialized Experience: Required specialized knowledge in catalog compilation and reference frames, which is noted to be obtainable only through experience.

Experience in Software and Development: Advanced skills in software development and implementation are necessary for data analysis, reduction processes, and to form database systems.

Experience in Authority and Communication: Must be a recognized authority in the field of astrometry and star catalog formation with widely cited research.

Essential writing and communication skills are required to develop scientific publications and present findings at international meetings.

• You will supervise professional staff members in the Defense & Mission Support Division.
• You will identify new Celestial Reference Frame (CRF) requirements.
• You will provide subject matter expertise to derive products, such as star catalogs, from CRF requirements.
• You will work with potential partners and develop program plans, including budgets and schedules.
