Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing and performing hands-on maintenance for county buildings in Tarrant County's Precinct 3, including repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, and landscaping, as well as planning projects and supervising contractors.

A good fit would be someone with practical experience in building upkeep who is physically fit, reliable, and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, possibly including evenings or weekends.

It's ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys a mix of supervisory and manual tasks in a public service role.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in building maintenance operations
  • Working knowledge of commercial building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Valid Class C driver's license
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing, lifting, stooping, and working in hazardous conditions
  • Experience in planning repairs, ordering supplies, and remodeling projects
  • Supervisory skills to assist and oversee contractors and vendors

Provide maintenance for County buildings through one of the following: preventive maintenance, equipment and machinery repairs, heating and air conditioning, carpentry or painting.

Requirements

1.Plans repair, building or remodeling projects accordingly. Orders needed supplies
2.Performs janitorial services on building and grounds
3.Performs remodeling tasks for County buildings which may include one of the following skill sets being used by the incumbent: painting, carpentry or electrical work
4.Performs all necessary landscaping duties (mowing, trimming weeds and maintaining equipment)
5.Repairs and maintains HVAC systems and associated building equipment
6.Assist with moving furniture and office equipment
7.Sets up furniture in specific configurations for special events
8.Performs plumbing repairs
9.Assists and supervises the work of contractors and vendors
10.Performs all other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Three (3) years experience in building maintenance operations.
Must have working knowledge of commercial building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
Must have a valid Class “C” driver license.

Additional Information

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to climb, walk, lift, stand, stoop, kneel, climb, crawl, push and pull. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and/or electrical hazards. Exposed to outside weather conditions on a daily basis. This position may require overtime, rotating shifts, nights, evenings, weekends and holidays.
