This job is for a Plant Superintendent at the U.S.
Mint in San Francisco, where you'll oversee the high-volume production of proof coin sets, manage teams across manufacturing, safety, and support functions, and ensure everything runs efficiently to meet quality and customer goals.

This position is located at US Mint, Manufacturing Directorate- San Francisco- Plant Manager.
As a Plant Superintendent, you will be responsible for manufacturing a high volume of clad and silver proof coin sets.
These responsibilities include a state-of-the-art integrated business management system which involves all functions (policy and management, inventory, manufacturing, shipping, administration, financial management and computerized report generation).
You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes: - Overseeing and directing multiple subordinate professional staff in various disciplines as part of regularly assigned duties while working in a high volume manufacturing facility and ensuring customer satisfaction and organizational goals are met; AND - Manager level experience promoting, monitoring and developing a safe work environment ensuring compliance with all laws relating to environment, health and safety; AND - Managing and authorizing a budget and expenditures within a manufacturing environment; AND - Recommending and or supporting and implementing Lean Manufacturing and other continuous process improvement plans that resulted in more efficient manufacturing processes and equipment; AND - Manager level experience identifying and implementing business improvement opportunities within a manufacturing environment.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks. Major Duties:
As a Plant Superintendent, you will: Perform purchasing and inventory maintenance of clad and silver coinage metals and metal forming the material and preparing into coin sets.
Plan and direct the work through various levels within the organization, the workforce is comprised of employees in various metal forming, support trades and a variety of skilled trades; engineering and plant maintenance, shipping, receiving, packaging, storage, supply, quality assurance, administrative, management analysts, budget, accounting, human resources, and police protection in and around the facility.
Provide the leadership to ensure efficient productivity and product quality, employee training, performance evaluations, rewards and commitment to quality.
Analyze, identify and define problems; plan day-to-day, short and long range strategies with the management level staff; use outstanding judgment, assemble and evaluate options; combine and integrate ideas of the staff into a cohesive set of objectives, strategies, philosophies and policies; implement, execute and monitor results.
