Are you a teacher looking for a meaningful and fun summer opportunity?

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is hiring Summer Camp Instructors. Summer Camp Instructors lead engaging, hands-on learning experiences in one of Saint Paul’s most unique environments.

Instructors bring camp curriculum to life while creating a safe, structured, and fun space for campers to explore the zoo and conservatory.

Information specific to this position:

  • Dates: June 8 – August 21, 2026 (minimum three-week commitment required)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 32 hours per week
  • Compensation: $750 per week

Required training dates: May 16–17, 2026 or May 30–31, 2026 (Some scheduling flexibility available)

  • Training Stipend: $300

Here's what you can expect to do:

  • Prepare and teach assigned camp curriculum
  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
  • Ensure safety, quality, and consistency in all camp activities
  • Manage classroom and outdoor learning environments throughout the zoo and conservatory
  • Build positive relationships with campers, families, and volunteer assistants
  • Adapt curriculum creatively and problem-solve in real time

Contract: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements. This is a CONTRACT position and is therefore not governed by City Civil Service Rules.
