Job Description

Summary

This role involves stepping in as a temporary teacher at a school for deaf and blind students, following the regular teacher's lesson plans and helping manage classroom activities when the main teacher is away.

You'll supervise students during meals, trips, and health visits while ensuring they behave safely and submit their work properly.

It's ideal for someone with a college education who is patient, responsible, and skilled in American Sign Language to connect with deaf students effectively.

Full Job Description

Provide on call coverage for classroom in the absence of faculty. Follow prescribe lesson plans as left by certified teacher. Assists with monitoring daily schedules, supervision of students during lunch and on field trips, as well as, during trips to the health center as needed. Collect student completed work and return to classroom teacher. Submit daily attendance information to school office. Promote and encourages proper behavior and conduct for each student in a safe manner.

Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Must have the ability to communicate using American Sign Language expressively and receptively.

Additional Information

If selected for an interview you must provide verification of your highest level of education (i.e., copy of BA degree, high school diploma, college transcript) and if applicable, licensure and/or certification (i.e., nursing licensure, teacher licensure, bus driving certification).
