Summary

This role involves serving as a substitute science teacher at a specialized school for deaf and blind students in South Carolina, where you'll deliver lessons, track student progress, and adapt teaching to individual needs using technology and clear communication.

Key Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Completion of a CAEP approved training program or eligibility for SC certification via alternative routes
Valid South Carolina teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain) in science subject areas
Ability to implement appropriate communication modalities or acquire necessary skills for deaf and blind students
Experience or ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with requirements
Proficiency in using technology to enhance learning and manage the classroom
Skills in data analysis to measure student progress and guide instruction

Full Job Description

Implement and refine district approved curriculum to meet the evolving educational needs of students. Systematically gather, analyze, and use data to measure student progress, guide instruction, and provide timely feedback. Uses technology effectively to enhance student learning and to manage the classroom. Maintain a safe student-centered learning environment that is engaging and respectful. Manage classroom with clear, consistent expectations for student behavior with an aim to create a calm, safe, orderly learning community. Develop and implement IEPs consistent with compliance requirements. Complete additional special educational actions and attend meetings as applicable as part of student’s educational team.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Completion of a CAEP approved training program or eligible for SC certification through the State Department of Education’s approved alternative certification routes. Valid SC certification (or is eligible to obtain a SC certification) in the subject area(s) employed to teach. Ability to implement appropriate communication modality and/or to acquire requisite skills.
