The Academic and Transfer Coordinator in Student Support Services (SSS) plays a key role in supporting student success and engagement at the Airport Campus.

This position is responsible for recruiting eligible students into the SSS program, delivering comprehensive support services, and maintaining accurate documentation to ensure compliance with federal program requirements.

The Coordinator provides direct student services such as academic guidance, success coaching, and assistance with navigating college processes.

The role also supports the supervision, training, and daily coordination of work-study students and academic mentors assigned to the Airport Campus, helping to ensure high-quality peer support for SSS participants.

In addition, the Coordinator plans and facilitates cultural trips designed to broaden students’ educational experiences, as well as organizes campus visits and tours for students interested in transferring to four-year colleges and universities.

These activities support students’ academic goals, promote retention, and encourage successful transfer pathways.

Overall, this position contributes significantly to the mission of Student Support Services by fostering a supportive, engaging, and resource-rich environment that empowers students to achieve their academic and personal goals.

This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree is required and two (2) years experience with students in higher education; degree preferred in education, social sciences, humanities, or academic development/student services fields; prefer master's degree in similar educational/student services fields; prefer 2 years experience academic advising, particularly to 1st-generation/income challenged students; experience in 2-yr college settings familiarity with college/transfer processes and financial aid information/processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in education, social sciences, humanities, or field related to academic development/student services; or Master's in education, social sciences, humanities, or field related to skills instruction; 2 years experience providing advising, particularly to first-generation/income challenged students; experience w/ 2-yr academic programs, college policies, transfer, and financial aid processes.
