The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) is currently seeking a Statistician 2 who can effectively manage and analyze confidential data sets, as well as develop and maintain interactive data dashboards. Requirements

As a Statistician 2, your role is crucial in analyzing and responding to applications for access to protected data, including information from Pennsylvania's death, birth, fetal death, and cancer incident registries. You will also be responsible for supporting data quality initiatives and providing the Department of Health with vital data for public health policy and funding decisions. In addition, you will manage requests from various external stakeholders, such as the Centers for Disease Control, other government entities, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations conducting public health research. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a team, as well as take on independent projects such as reporting and data quality initiatives. This will include creating interactive data dashboards, allowing you to continuously develop and enhance your skills while working with various application and reporting techniques.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. You may also be required to work on-site as dictated by operational and training needs.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

    Additional details may be provided during the interview. This position will have 2 weeks minimum of mandatory on-site training.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Statistician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of professional experience in the collection, compilation, editing, and statistical analysis of quantified data and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
