Summary

Full Job Description

Joining the Secret Service, Office of Human Resources, Law Enforcement Acquisition Division will allow you to be responsible for aggregating, collating, and analyzing recruitment and hiring data across the most complex situations.

To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below: BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A.

Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc.

OR B. Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.

IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $121,785.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: Applying statistical, mathematical, and analytical techniques to analyze data.

Developing recruitment models and metrics to analyze applicant pipeline data and/or identify significant patterns in applicant flow, progression, and bottlenecks.

Producing reports or visualizations utilizing statistical and data management tools (e.g. Excel, SAS, SPSS, R, Python, Power BI, Cognos, or Tableau).

Interpreting statistical data to prepare reports and briefings. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.

If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Major Duties:

The selectee will serve as a Statistician in the Office of Human Resources, Law Enforcement Acquisition Division.

Typical work assignments include: Developing and maintaining applicant recruitment and hiring models for major job categories, occupational series, and targeted segments of the recruitment and hiring pipelines.

Designing evaluations and program monitoring techniques to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of recruitment and hiring efforts.

Implementing quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data, statistical analyses, and model outputs.

Interpreting and communicating complex statistical findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization through written reports, presentations, briefings, and visualizations.
