This job involves handling administrative tasks in a maintenance shop for Baltimore County's Public Works department, such as managing records for personnel, supplies, equipment, and vehicles, while also responding to inquiries and monitoring alarms.
It's a support role that keeps the shop running smoothly by tracking costs, processing purchases, and dispatching crews when needed.

Pay Schedule I, Grade 19, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week.
A vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Solid Waste.

Under general supervision, performs specialized clerical work in support of a maintenance shop.
Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate high school equivalency
PLUS
One year of general clerical experience.
(Additional experience as described in the essential duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Additional education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Entry Level):
Knowledge of office procedures and filing systems.
Skill in operation of office machinery as listed in essential duties.
Ability to communicate orally. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and documents. Ability to answer routine inquiries and to properly direct visitors, mail, or telephone calls.
Ability to maintain files. Ability to follow County and Department rules and regulations. Ability to learn automated office systems. Ability to follow directions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to concentrate on tasks in a distracting environment. Ability to operate yard equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Full Performance):Knowledge of County rules and departmental regulations and procedures.
Ability to process information according to established guidelines. Ability to operate automated office systems. Ability to effectively deal with the public.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and EducationPhysical and Environmental Conditions: The work among positions in this class varies, but most often involves frequent walking and standing, and some lifting and carrying of objects of moderate to heavy weight. Some duties involve exposure to adverse weather conditions.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification is essentially sedentary. Some positions may involve occasional travel between work sites.
