Job Description

Summary

This job involves planning and supporting production work in a naval shipyard, where you'll review orders and drawings to figure out needed materials, track progress to avoid delays, and handle procurement to ensure everything arrives on time.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (MACHINIST) in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT (c930) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO PROVIDE PRODUCTION SUPPORT SERVICES.

  • You will review job orders, related instructions, and drawing which are received in the production shop to determine materials.
  • You will follow progress of work and assist other planners and shop supervisors in eliminating backlogs and revising material requirement lists.
  • You will review man hour estimates supplied by Group Planners and Estimators.
  • You will initiate procurement of material by preparation of stub requisition for material in shop stores.
  • You will follow up to assure timely delivery of material and contact the Supply Department to expedite slow shipments.
