This job involves leading a team of shipfitters in a naval shipyard in Hawaii, where you'll assign tasks, solve on-the-job issues, and ensure tools and materials are ready for repairing and building ship structures.
You'll also hands-on work with heating and shaping metal parts using torches and other methods to fix or overhaul ships.
It's a great fit for experienced metalworkers with leadership skills who enjoy hands-on technical work in a team setting on naval vessels.
You will serve as a SHIPFITTER LEADER (FLANGE TURNER) in the STRUCTURAL AND FABRICATION SHOP - 920 of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
