Job Description

Summary

This job involves planning and coordinating maintenance, repairs, and upgrades for nuclear submarines at a naval facility in Washington, ensuring everything runs smoothly without delays.

You'll handle everything from researching parts and processes to preparing quality checks and work packages for complex submarine systems.

Key Requirements

  • Knowledge of welding, repair processes, and nondestructive testing (NDT) for structural components

  • Experience developing work packages such as Controlled Work Packages (CWP) and Formal Work Packages (FWP)
  • Familiarity with submarine-specific requirements like WP 278/1688, AWR's, FWP's, CWP's, and TRIPER processes

Full Job Description

You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPFITTER) in the RIF PLANNING DIVISION, ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Salary: GS10: $76,395 - $99,308 GS 11: $83,935 - $109,122 GS 11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Coordinating, planning and execution of structural maintenance actions for nuclear submarine refits.

Perform maintenance actions and alterations with the effect to avoid production delays, scheduling conflicts, lack of material, and to improve work processes.

Conduct in-depth research on parts and processes that support the above.

GS 10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook; Knowledgeable of requirements for content of work packages, (AWR's, FWP's and CWP's); reading and interpreting drawings, documents and tech manuals.

Knowledgeable with the content of the WP 278/1688 and criteria of associated GIB's. Knowledgeable of welding and repair processes for structural components.

Knowledgeable in the required OQE required to perform repairs, to include QA documentation and NDT (nondestructive testing) requirements associated with Trident Submarine components.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will be primarily responsible for planning for the accomplishment of preventive and corrective maintenance work and alterations on complex submarine systems, sub-systems, and components.
  • You will be responsible for providing quick turn-around repair, overhaul, maintenance, alteration, replenishment, modernization, and systems checkout of the TRIDENT class submarine over it extended operating cycle.
  • You will research and correctly identify Quality Assurance (QA) requirements, write Re-Entry Controls (REC) and prepare all QA forms.
  • You will determine the proper procedures, applicable test requirements, and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) required to certify that work is performed correctly and that repaired systems or components will function as designed.
  • You will review repair requests of components and determine the percentage of remaining lifecycle, dictate Trident Planned Equipment Replacement (TRIPER) if appropriate and progress TRIPER request for TRIPER change out.
  • You will develop Controlled Work Packages (CWP) and Formal Work Packages (FWP) from Planned Maintenance Requirement (PMR) requests, Corrective Maintenance work requests, and Trident Planned Equipment Replacement (TRIPER) component overhaul requests.
