Job Description

Summary

This role involves supporting victims of sexual assault in the U.S. Marine Corps by providing emotional guidance, coordinating resources, and ensuring their safety within military bases.

It also includes running awareness campaigns, delivering training sessions, and working closely with community partners to prevent and respond to such incidents.

Ideal candidates are compassionate individuals with experience in victim advocacy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to helping others in crisis situations.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent, including trauma-informed, gender-responsive victim support for military and civilians

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator in the United States Marine Corps of II MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Provide non-clinical response that is trauma related, gender responsive, culturally competent, and recovery oriented for both military and civilian; inform victims of the resources available and manage reports of retaliation, reprisal, ostracism, maltreatment, and sexual harassment: develop and collaborate with stakeholders on public awareness campaigns and community outreach events; and plan, schedule, and deliver comprehensive training for a diverse audience to cover SAPR policies, procedures, reporting options and other topics.

You will be required work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays, in an on-call or rotational basis.

The on-call or rational status requires varied work hours, to include a requirement to be available 24/7, to respond to the following, but not limited to: calls received via the helpline, from military/civilian law enforcement, from treatment facilities or local hospitals.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator for sexual assaults reported within the Navy and/or Marine Corps command, base, or installation.
  • You will assign, monitor, manage, and document victim assistant and advocacy activities performed at the tactical level.
  • You will apply skilled communication, including developing rapport and listening to perform advocacy support.
  • You will conduct risk screenings and safety assessments coordinating with both on/off base resources to report findings to the base commander.
  • You will ensure victim assistance and follow up contact is provided until the disposition is compete or is no longer needed.
  • You will employ complex trauma-informed practices to provide emotional support to ensure the victim feels respected, heard, and understood.
  • You will manage cases and referrals to include data entry of official reports related to inquiries and to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, legal requirements, and guidelines.
  • You will advise internal and external stakeholders, law enforcement, legal professionals, healthcare providers, and community organizations to facilitate a certain level of rapprochement is sexual assault cases.
  • You will be the subject matter expert in the interdisciplinary meetings and initiatives for the command and in the community.
  • You will assist in the program evaluation and improvement initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions to high level supervisors.
  • You will develop and collaborate with stakeholders on public awareness campaigns and community outreach events.
  • You will plan, schedule, and deliver comprehensive training for a diverse audience to cover SAPR policies, procedures, reporting options and other topics.
