DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Senior Parking Meter Technician will collect, transport, and deposit parking pay station revenue. Completes all required paperwork, ensuring compliance with established processes and procedures, and obtains the signature of acceptance from the receiving entity. Observe change in volume of coins to guard against theft. Perform preventive maintenance on parking pay stations, including removing and replacing mechanisms and electronic components, installing operating configurations, changing batteries, and testing modem connectivity. Reports needed repairs, damaged, and malfunctioning meters. Assist pedestrians and motorists in performing transactions and understanding parking regulations. Report on vehicles in tow-away zones, traffic accidents, hazards, and emergencies. Perform miscellaneous activities such as lot maintenance, light bulb replacement, meter upgrades, and other duties as assigned. Normally drives within an assigned area and addresses meter issues within that area. May be asked to back up and assist in other areas as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 100 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or awkward positions for long periods of time. This position will require exposure to heat/cold as the job is primarily outdoors, not in an office environment.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One year of experience in technical repair/installation, customer service, or cash handling equipment is required.
In addition, a technical background or experience is desired.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license and in compliance with City of Houston’s driving policy AP 2-2.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. **
