Under direction, the Parking Lot Supervisor plans, organizes, and supervises the activities of a parking operation which includes public parking, employee parking, and governmental vehicle parking.

Requirements

Knowledge of
  • Principles of supervision
  • Methods, and procedures typical of parking lot operations, including revenue collection, monetary accounting and cash control
  • Ticketing, traffic control, and record keeping
  • Basic operation, repair and maintenance of parking control equipment, including mechanical treadle barriers, automated count equipment, ticket spitters, electromechanical gate barriers, and magnetic loop detectors
  • Report writing and record keeping
  • Basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Ability to
  • Plan, organize and supervise the activities of a major parking operation
  • Communicate effectively with employees, other County workers, County departments and the public
  • Make reports and prepare correspondence
  • Enforce safety practices
  • Evaluate and communicate policies to County departments, employees, and the public.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1. Two years of full-time paid work experience in the Sacramento County class of Parking Lot Attendant.

OR

2. Two years of full-time paid work experience performing duties in a parking lot operation, including collecting and accounting of fees.

OR

3. Two years of full-time paid work experience collecting and accounting for money, including balancing records and preparing cash reports.


Note: If the word “experience” is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.


Probationary Period

The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.

    FORMULA RATE EXAMINATION (Weighted 100%)


    All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications by the cut-off date will have their Supplemental Questionnaire scored in the Formula Rate Examination.


    This examination will evaluate the relevance, level, recency, progression and quality of candidate's education, training and experience.

    The candidate's application or other materials will not be included in this examination.

    Therefore, the candidate's responses to the supplemental questionnaire should be thorough, detailed and complete.

    The score from the Formula Rate Examination will determine the ranking on the eligible/employment list for this job.


    All candidates competing in the testing process will receive written notice of their examination results by email. Notices can also be accessed in their governmentjobs.com inbox.

    Applicants achieving a passing score will be placed on the eligible list in rank order. The rank is determined by the test score attained from the examination.
