Job Description This Senior Center Specialist will be providing assistance and support to Gwinnett County residents age 60 or older.

The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including conducting assessments, updating files, submitting transportation information for clients, developing, scheduling, and organizing activities at the center, as well as preparing reports on activities, nutrition, and health-related programs.

Essential Duties

  • Instructing residents on the fundamentals of the assigned community service program
  • Assisting residents with questions and concerns regarding the senior programs
  • Assisting in maintaining facility cleanliness and operations, as needed
  • Maintaining records and other documentation regarding daily program activities and operations, such as assessments, registrations, updating files, attendance records, transportation, deposits, routing information for clients, etc
  • Organizing transportation for daily activities, special trips, or medical appointments
  • Maintaining appropriate level of supplies and equipment
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level


Public Speaking Duties

  • Speaking at community meetings to raise awareness about program services
  • Educating and providing information about classes, programs, services and rental opportunities to the public at community events, resource and job fairs, and other forums as needed

Grade

  • The grade for this position is A131. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.


Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, AND
  • One year of experience with seniors, OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license
  • CPR certification
  • First Aid certification
