The primary purpose of this position is: to coordinate, implement, and provide training for security forces at an installation.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes: Working knowledge of a range of security forces policies, procedures, and practices.
Applying a working knowledge of the overall security forces missions, functions, and structure. Developing course materials and instructional methods, principles, and techniques.
Instructing training courses in a classroom seminar setting. Communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.
Knowledge of a range of security forces policies, procedures, and practices; Knowledge of overall security forces missions, functions, and structure; Knowledge of safety, security, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
2. Skill in developing course materials and instructional methods, principles, and techniques. -- Ability to instruct training courses in a classroom seminar setting.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with SF branch/section chiefs, contributing to a cooperative work environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 4.
Knowledge of applicable law enforcement and security AF, Federal and DoD rules, regulations, instructions, practices, principles and procedures including force protection, integrated base defense, anti-terrorism and physical security.

Knowledge of police officer procedures and operating methods to perform the full range of police officer activities independently to include protection level resources, installation entry control, armed response and dispatch.

The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle and an appropriate, valid driver's license will be required.
Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification and AFI 36-2645, Security Professional Certification and Development.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations.
Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g.
Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.
Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
DUTY 1: Serves as the focal point for the security forces training program, coordinating and implementing all training activities for the unit.
DUTY 2: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
DUTY 3: Conducts training classes for security forces personnel.
Prepares lesson plans and teaches formal or informal training courses for personnel in various Security Forces functional activities in accordance with AFI 36-2646.
DUTY 4: Develops and monitors the accomplishment of security forces training plans and obtains and develops training aids and materials.
DUTY 5: Attends, arranges, and conducts meetings, briefings, and workshops and performs other duties related to security forces training.
