Summary

This job is for a security guard at a U.S.

Army facility in Pennsylvania, where you'll check people and vehicles entering the site, keep order, and respond to security issues to protect the property and everyone on it.

It's a good fit for someone with experience in basic security work, like watching over buildings or events, who stays calm under pressure and follows rules closely.

No advanced degrees are needed, just one year of hands-on experience in protecting places from risks.

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Protecting property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; 2) Maintaining order and protecting life; AND 3) Controlling access of vehicles, visitors and/or pedestrians into a facility or area.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Major Duties:

  • Perform installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve standard procedural and non-recurring visitor access assignments in support of the Visitor Control Center.
  • Serve as a member of the installation’s overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents.
  • Regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic to prevent accidents and to ease congestion and parking problems.
