Full Job Description

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) has an exciting opportunity for an Information Security Specialist 1 in the Security Office.

In this role you will be responsible to safeguard the PLCB's information system assets and data by identifying and responding to potential and actual IT security threats and incidents.

Requirements

As an Information Security Specialist 1, you will monitor IT security applications and tools to detect anomalies, assess alerts, and differentiate false positives from actual threats.

Using a variety security tools you will investigate alerts to identify root causes, resolve or escalate incidents to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and ensure compliance with established policy and procedures.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling and conducting vulnerability scans to identify system vulnerabilities
  • Defining corrective actions and identifying residual risks, creating and implementing compensating controls to mitigate vulnerabilities, and monitoring ongoing progress
  • Monitoring and analyzing vulnerability dashboards and security incident reports using established tools
  • Responding to user access requests, granting or denying them based upon established policy and procedure
  • Routing and responding to user support requests

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three days a week, with two days per week in the Northwest Office Building in Harrisburg.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Network Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience performing technical work in information technology security, network support, or network administration, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or
  • A bachelor’s degree in any information technology field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credit.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation.

An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code.

Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
