Full Job Description

You will serve as a in the PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the NAVAL ACQUISIION DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, DEPARTMENT OF NAVY of NACC FIELD OFC.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with DOD security instruction and regulations related to Personnel, Information, Physical Security and Antiterrorism Experience with the provisions of the National Security Program (NISP) regulation to manage sensitive and classified information Experience applying standardized security criteria related to security clearance level and adjudication Experience communicating effectively and interpreting new and existing security instructions Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0000/security-administration-series-0080/ Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will review security clearance requests for acceptability.
  • You will maintain suspense files for all derogatory information within the personnel security folder for future use if the individual is considered for a sensitive position.
  • You will assist in the evaluation of the sensitivity classification for positions by applying the sensitivity criteria.
  • You will Initiate requests for additional data from other sources such as the Office of Personnel Management and other investigative sources.
  • You will coordinate inspection schedules for the security coordinators to ensure compliance with regulations and ensure that reports are prepared and forwarded as required.
