This seasonal job with the National Park Service involves hands-on maintenance tasks like fixing buildings, painting structures, cleaning facilities, and helping with grounds and utility upkeep on Saint John Island in the Virgin Islands.

A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected.

Major Duties:
As a Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties: Performs minor carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters.
Performs minor painting using brush and roller according to specific instructions on projects where appearances are not critical such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels.
Performs routine maintenance and custodial duties at different sites and visitor facilities, campground sites, trails, to include cleaning restrooms, and making minor repairs as needed.
Operates a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites.
Performs other duties such as painting equipment; welding; assisting higher grade worker with maintenance of utility systems, including sewer, electrical distribution; trails and grounds work, asphalt and road maintenance.
