The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Region Three is now hiring a Seasonal Transportation Technician to support operations at our Saratoga Springs Maintenance Station.

Position Options
  • Transportation Technician I - for candidates with a Commercial Driver License (CDL).
  • General Maintenance Worker - for candidates without a Commercial Driver License (CDL).

What You'll Do
Transportation Technicians and General Maintenance Workers perform a variety of roadway and station maintenance duties, including:
  • Removing snow from state roadways using snowplows, graders, blowers, and other equipment
  • Performing station and highway maintenance.
  • Repairing signs, fences and roadway features.
  • Operating tools and equipment safely
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:
  • Current CDL (required for Transportation Technician I). Applicants without a CDL may be hired as a General Maintenance Worker II, performing similar work that does not require CDL-restricted equipment.
  • Ability to report to the Saratoga Springs Maintenance Station within 30 minutes

  • Willingness to work nights, be on-call, and respond during storms
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather
  • Dependable, motivated team players who take pride in their work
Experience That Helps (Not Required)
Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Previous UDOT, maintenance, or construction experience
  • Heavy equipment operation
  • Snow removal or roadway maintenance experience
Pay Information
  • Transportation Technician I (Class A CDL required): starting at $21.89 per hour or more.
  • General Maintenance Worker II (no Class A CDL): starting at $17.14 per hour or more.

Registration with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse) is a requirement for all commercial driver license and learner permit holder’s.

Selected candidate will be required to register and authorize UDOT to conduct full pre-employment queries and limited queries on their CDL for the duration of their employment in order to be selected for this role.

  • This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing of employees after hire. A conditional offer of employment may be made pending drug test results.
  • This position requires you to frequently be exposed to hazards and discomforts of traffic and environmental conditions due to the nature of the work assignment.
  • This position requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
