Requirements

VISITOR SERVICES ASSISTANT $18.50-$20.50/HOUR
This is a customer service-based position that provides information to customers and handles all aspects of pass sales while supporting the staff. Daily interaction with park
visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. The Visitor Services Assistant welcomes visitors and provides park-specific information. Duties
include, but are not limited to:
Staff the park entrance station and/or the visitor center.
Work directly with park visitors to greet and orientate them with the park.
Answer questions about trails, local wildlife, and park history.
Operate a cash register, collect revenue, complete shift reports, and balance shift box at the end of each shift.
Sell park passes, permits, registrations, licenses, books, maps, clothing, and novelties.
Monitor the park radio and use it to communicate with other staff.
Convey emergency information to staff and 911 via radio and telephone.
Light cleaning duties at the entrance station and visitor center.
Occasionally, hike park trails.
Help with special events and educational programs as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

MAINTENANCE, FORESTRY AND TRAILS ASSISTANT $18.50-$20.50/HOUR
Throughout the 2026 season, we will build climbing access trails, mitigate forest fuels, map and remove invasive weeds, and maintain the park’s facilities. You will fit right in if
you are happiest outdoors, work hard, and learn every day. Duties include:
General park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities, including restrooms, picnic areas, roads, parking areas, and trails.
Safely and courteously operating and maintaining state-owned vehicles, ATVs, and small power equipment.
Communicating professionally and courteously with visitors, employees, and volunteers.
Identifying, mapping, and removing invasive plants
Leading volunteers in stewardship projects (trails, invasives, forestry)
Assisting with forest fuels mitigation projects, including species/disease identification, crew supervision, felling, bucking, chipping, and saw maintenance.
Performing trail maintenance and construction with a strong focus on stone stairways and walls.
Other duties as assigned.

TRAIL CREW ASSISTANT $20.00-$25.00/HOUR
This seasonal crew position involves rebuilding sections of the Red garden Wall trail, including stone stairways and retaining walls. This position will also assist in recruiting
and retaining a volunteer base. If you enjoy outdoor work, teamwork, and feel fulfilled after a hard day's labor, this could be a great fit. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performing trail maintenance and construction with a strong focus on stone stairways and walls built to commonly accepted standards.
Safely operating state-owned vehicles, ATVs, and small power equipment.
Familiarity with rigging and rope work
Familiarity with stone shaping tools and techniques is required
Experience recruiting and working with volunteers preferred
Backcountry medical experience and qualifications preferred

Qualifications

Basic Park Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have a current & valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
The work site will provide some uniform items; the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.
Applicants will be required to successfully complete a comprehensive background check.
Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Basic computer skills required
Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team.

Visitor Services Assistant Specific Requirements:

Must be willing and able to work between 20 and 40 hours per week, including at least one weekly shift on Saturdays, Sundays, and/or holidays
Retail experience is preferred.
Possess strong communication skills to deliver excellent customer service.
Previous experience handling money and working with the public is preferred.
Must be able to lift 10–25 pounds repeatedly during a workday.
Bilingual skills preferred

Maintenance, Forestry, and Trails Assistant Specific Requirements:

Must be willing and able to work between 20 and 40 hours per week, including at least one weekly shift on Saturdays, Sundays, and/or holidays
Work outside in all kinds of weather.
Ability to learn to safely and effectively operate equipment
Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds repeatedly during a single workday.
Lead volunteer groups of all sizes in stewardship projects
Lead youth corps on trail and forestry projects
Plant/tree identification skills are helpful.
GIS familiarity helpful
Bilingual skills helpful

Trail Crew Specific Requirements:

Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week, and may include at least one weekly shift on Saturdays, Sundays, and/or holidays
Must be able to work independently
Work outside in all kinds of weather.
Ability to safely and effectively operate equipment
Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds repeatedly during a single workday.
Ability to build and sustain a corps of trail volunteers
Use Personal Protective equipment at all times and participate in a culture of safety
Communicate effectively in person and with radios
Bilingual skills helpful
