Summary

This seasonal job involves helping to plan and run fun sports and recreation activities, mainly basketball and games for teens, at parks in Jacksonville.

Workers will supervise kids, keep everyone safe, and promote teamwork during evening and weekend sessions from June to August.

Full Job Description

Under general supervision, the Hoop2nite+ Site Leader and Activities Coordinator assist with the planning, coordination, and supervision of teen sports and recreation game activities for the City of Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department.

This position supports structured sports play, recreational play, and daily program operations while maintaining a safe and positive environment for participants.

Training Dates: 6/3 and 6/4/2025 (5pm-9pm)
Program Start Date: Monday, June 1, 2026
Program End Date: Saturday, August 1, 2026
Hoop2Nite Site Leaders - $17 hourly
Hoop2Nite Activities Coordinator - $15 hourly

Requirements

• Assist in organizing and leading sports and recreation activities including basketball and other recreational games

• Supervise participants during sports and recreation activities, and transitions

• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive behavior

• Ensure safety procedures and department policies are followed at all times

• Assist with setup, breakdown, and general program operations

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, participants, and parents as needed

Additional Information

  • Experience working with youth in a recreational, educational, or athletic setting preferred
  • Knowledge of basic sports rules and fundamentals
  • Ability to supervise groups of children and maintain a safe environment
  • Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and interact positively with the public

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor and indoor recreation facilities
  • Seasonal, temporary position
  • May require evenings and/or weekends
