Summary

This seasonal job involves helping run a summer tennis camp at city facilities in Jacksonville, Florida, by assisting with lessons, maintaining courts, handling customer service like bookings and fees, and ensuring safety for kids and visitors.

Full Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the Tennis Pro at one of the City owned tennis complexes for the summer.
  • Program Start and End: June 8, 2026 – July 17, 2026

  • Mandatory Training: June 1st

  • Minimum Age: 17

  • Hourly Rate: $15

The 4 Summer Camp Tennis Complex locations are:
  • Southside Tennis Complex: 1539 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207
  • Boone Park Tennis Complex: 3700 Park St., Jacksonville, FL 32205
  • 9A/Baymeadows Regional Park: 8000 Baymeadows Rd East, Jacksonville, FL 32256
  • Clanzel T. Brown Tennis Park: 4575 Moncrief Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32209

Requirements

  • Assists with tennis lesson instruction.
  • Assists with preparation of the tennis courts.
  • Books tennis court reservations and answers the phone.
  • Collects fees.
  • Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations governing the tennis complex.
  • Provide patrons with information and resources.
  • Maintains tennis courts and inside of facility.
  • Prepares reports.

Qualifications

  • Must have a general knowledge of the game and rules of tennis.
  • Ability to use machinery.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and follow cash handling procedures.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Additional Information

  • A two year combination of education, training, or experience in providing recreation, leisure services, physical education or a related field OR
    • Minimum Age 17 with two years of high-school team experience participation OR can provide state ranking credentials.
  • Must pass background screening on a local, state and federal level as required by the State of Florida Children and Family Services.
Preferred experience playing tennis or working at a tennis facility.
