Full Job Description

Under Administrative direction of the Chief Sanitarian, the Sanitarian Supervisor will perform supervisory and administrative duties as assigned at the full-performance level.

They will assist the Chief Sanitarian in program planning activities and assuring the quality of service delivery.

They will perform lead work and provide supervision and on-job-training and standardizing of other professionals assigned to the regional program.

The Supervisor will oversee the Environmental and Public Health education programs. They will initiate enforcement action when necessary.

The Supervisor will conduct performance evaluations of both personnel and program and be a step in grievance procedure and initiate disciplinary actions.


The Sanitarian Supervisor will direct the Environmental Health Program in the absence of the Chief Sanitarian.


The Sanitarian Supervisor will function as a field Sanitarian a minority of the time and will perform Supervisor functions and other related work as required.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a sanitarian.
OR
Substitution: A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, environmental science, chemistry, biology, physical science or agriculture may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

Special Requirements: Must be licensed as a Registered Sanitarian by the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians or be eligible to be licensed with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation, W. Va. Code R. §20-4-4 et seq. Must possess a valid driver's license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.
