Full Job Description

Do you enjoy the outdoors? Are you interested in working with those who protect, conserve, and enhance Pennsylvania's waterways and agriculture resources? The Human Resource (HR) Shared Services Office is looking for a Safety Coordinator to join the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. This position plays a key role in administering the Safety Program and serving as the point of contact for all related matters statewide. Requirements

In this role, you will be tasked with maintaining the agency's safety program, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and standards; published directives; collective bargaining agreements; the Accident and Illness Prevention Program; the personnel rules; and past practices.

You will be responsible for providing guidance and recommendations to all levels of management in the creation and formulation of policies and promotion of sound safety practices.

Work also involves providing safety related communications and education to employees regarding the agency's safety policies, procedures, and contact information.

You will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise to investigate workplace injuries, review investigations conducted by agency personnel, and recommend corrective actions.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating meetings with agency personnel
  • Participating in Labor/Management meetings as a safety subject matter expert
  • Analyzing the reporting of incidents and illnesses by the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) to evaluate the effectiveness of the reporting system
  • Taking on a lead role in maintaining a safe work environment within the Agencies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Please note: Work address is 1601 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg PA 17110
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Human Resource Analyst 1 or Equal Opportunity Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of analytical experience that includes one year of professional human resource or equal opportunity experience, and a bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
