Requirements

In this position, you will assist with county road maintenance by organizing data, coordinating fieldwork, and ensuring that projects are managed effectively. Your tasks will involve reviewing reports and plans to optimize the use of materials and services, inspecting roads for tree removal, collaborating with contractors, preparing necessary documentation, and confirming that work is completed satisfactorily. Additionally, you will oversee schedules for dumpster pickups, coordinate herbicide applications, track rental equipment for billing accuracy, and provide updates on maintenance tasks like crack sealing and seal coating. You will also help organize litter pickup initiatives, such as the Adopt-A-Highway program, by preparing supplies and schedules.

Furthermore, you will act as the county's Right-to-Know coordinator, managing public information requests and ensuring that safety labels and documents are up to date. Your responsibilities will include processing invoices, verifying charges, assisting with procurement, tracking waste, and managing equipment inventory alongside garage supervisors. You may need to visit stockpiles to check equipment records and assist in the storeroom or cover for other staff as necessary. During winter operations, you will support road crews with radio communication, and occasional travel for training will be required. Environmental compliance is also part of your role, which includes adhering to regulations, attending training sessions, and supporting county environmental initiatives.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon completion of probationary period.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clarks Summit. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or
  • An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
