Job Description

Summary

This job involves teaching swimming lessons to people of all ages, from infants to adults, at a military base pool in Virginia, while ensuring safety and progressing students based on their skills.

It's a hands-on role managing swim programs and working with lifeguards to keep lessons secure.

Key Requirements

  • Water Safety Instructor Certification from a nationally recognized agency (e.g., American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates, Star Guard)
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Work experience in swimming instruction or related aquatics duties
  • Ability to teach swimming strokes including front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly
  • Experience instructing age groups from infants through adults
  • Knowledge of safety and survival skills for swim lessons

Full Job Description

This position is located at Joint Base Myers - Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess work experience related to the duties described above and possession of the following certificates: Water Safety Instructor Certification Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) First Aid Certification (Certificates issue by American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable) In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Possession of a Lifeguard Certification Experience MUST be clearly reflected on your Resume at the time of application to be considered.

Major Duties:

  • Acts as water safety instructor. Manages all swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled, at the assigned aquatics facility.
  • Develops swim program according to students' ability and promotes students to higher level of swimming according to their skills.
  • Instructs all levels of swimming and appropriate strokes, to include; front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly,
  • Teach students from age groups of infant through adults. Introduces and instructs safety and survival skills to students, when appropriate to level of instruction.
  • Instructors work with lifeguards to ensure that swim lessons are safe at all times. Performs other duties assigned.
