Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of lifeguards at a military base pool in Virginia, ensuring safe swimming conditions, performing rescues if needed, and helping with water maintenance and training programs.

Full Job Description

This position is located at Joint Base Myers - Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification or nationally recognized equivalent American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent.

Experience MUST be clearly reflected on your Resume at the time of application to be considered. Major Duties:

  • Assist with the operation of the pool, oversees the work of assigned lifeguards and monitors compliance with facility policies. Assists with scheduling of employees. Maintains daily logs and records as required.
  • Assists with the operation of the pool, its filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water tests. Under direction of the pool supervisor, employ safety rules for the protection of the guest.
  • Responsible for life guarding guest in attendance at the assigned aquatic facility. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Issues towels and checks identification as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020. Assist in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.
  • Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Ensures maintaining pool and area is clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Performs other duties assigned.
