Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at pools on a military base in Virginia, where you'll watch swimmers, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies by performing rescues and first aid.

You'll also help with swim lessons, keep the pool area clean, and test water quality.

Key Requirements

  • First Aid certification from American Red Cross or equivalent
  • Experience in lifeguarding, pool surveillance, and emergency response clearly shown on resume
  • Ability to assist with swim lessons, water survival training, and maintaining pool cleanliness
  • Knowledge of safety rules, customer service standards, and basic water testing procedures

Full Job Description

This position is located at Joint Base Myers - Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED) First Aid.

Experience MUST be clearly reflected on your Resume at the time of application to be considered. Major Duties:

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020 and assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed.
  • Adheres to Customer Service standards of the Installation. Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty.
  • Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures. Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required. Performs other duties assigned.
