Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping run a golf course at an Air Force base, including managing the pro shop, assisting customers with rentals and sales, scheduling tee times and events, and handling basic cash transactions and inventory.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 47th Force Support Squadron, located at Desert Oaks Golf Course on Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, This position is considered Flexible.

This position is guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours but can work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. You may be required to work some nights, weekends and holidays.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have one (1) years experience which provides a working knowledge and understanding of golf course operations including the rules of golf, equipment sales and repair, tournament organization and handicapping.

Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English.

Must have experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes: (1) direct handling of cash items, and (2) use of cash accountability control methods.

Must have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public.

Prior experience in basic golf instructions is desirable You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:

Performs and/or assists in the operation and maintenance of the golf course pro shop, driving range, course starter, course marshal, cart rental, club storage and caddy activities.

Provides patron guidance for selection of golf equipment and merchandise. Recommends appropriate level of golf instructions to interested patrons.

Encourages patron interest in scheduled golf events and tournaments. Schedules tee times, golf clinics, lessons and tournaments.

Assists patrons with golf club rental, assigns golf carts, sells pro-shop merchandise, processes patron special orders and informally demonstrates equipment usage.

Explains course safety rules and regulations to patrons. Able to provide basic Golf instructions. Receives and logs in merchandise and creates merchandise displays.

Ensures all sales, fees and charges are rung up on the cash register. Responsible for maintaining the pro shop in a neat, clean and orderly condition.

Ensures only authorized patrons use golf course and facilities. Stocks up cooler and makes sure all food items are stocked for the weekend.

Prepares and reconciles cashier reports, counts and verifies change funds and prepares bank deposits daily. Prepares consolidated cost center reports.

Enters financial data by use of computer programs for daily financial summaries. Enters time and attendance data by use of computer program.

Assists manager in preparation of time and attendance cards and submits them to the payroll liaison office. May be required to purchase food, equipment, and supplies.

Assists manager with inventory and informs him of all new items. Performs other related duties as assigned. Assists in preparation of financial reports.
