Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at pools on a U.S. Army base in New Jersey, where you'll watch swimmers, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies by rescuing people and giving first aid.

It's a great fit for young people or anyone with basic lifeguard training who wants seasonal or entry-level work in a community setting.

Key Requirements

  • Lifeguarding certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS), to be obtained by May 15, 2026
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association equivalent
  • First Aid certification from a recognized provider
  • Ability to perform rescues, administer first aid, and maintain pool surveillance
  • Skills in enforcing safety rules, cleaning facilities, and conducting water tests
  • Valid photo ID, social security card, and resume (2 pages or less) for application
  • For ages 14-17: Work authorization and proof of education

Picatinny Arsenal Hiring Event : Interviews will be held on site.

When: January 8, 2026 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm Where: The Club at Picatinny, 121 Buffington Rd., Dover, NJ 07801 Save the date-Picatinny Arsenal Hiring Events- 1/8, 2/19, 3/05, and 4/02 Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

Qualifications: Possesses and maintains OR in the process of obtaining the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional" CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

These certificates must be reflected on your resume and can be uploaded at the time of application to be considered eligible for this position.

Applicants must obtain valid certificates by May 15, 2026.

This announcement is in conjunction with the Picatinny Arsenal Job Fair at the Club at Picatinny, 121 Buffington Rd., Dover, NJ 07801 on Thursday, 8 January 2026 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

Applicants participating in the event will receive first consideration. To receive consideration, applicants must attend the Job Fair between the times of 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

If you are not able to attend the job fair, your application will be reviewed after the event.

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
  • Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty.
  • Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions.
