Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at an Army base pool in South Korea, where you'll watch over swimmers, enforce safety rules, and help with rescues or first aid if needed.

Full Job Description

This position is located at Community Recreation Division, DFMWR, US Army Garrison Daegu, APO AP 96218-5746. Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess and maintain the following certifications: - A valid Lifeguarding and First Aid certification (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered to have "Highly Qualifying Criteria" : A valid U.S.

American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification to possibly teach swim lessons.

NOTE: Applicants who meet both minimum qualifications and highly qualifying criteria will be referred to the selecting official for consideration first.

If management does not wish to select a highly qualified candidate, they may request a referral list including all qualified applicants. Qualification must be clearly verifiable in your resume.

Government positions must include pay plan, series, grade, to and from dates, and government agency/department.

(All qualification requirements must include experience performing duties equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level.) Major Duties:

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020 and assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide.
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures.
  • Assists in coaching or preparing the competitive and non­competitive swimming programs as required. Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required.
